Shattered by deathoflight Shattered by deathoflight
This piece is in the style of my earlier art, and is a recreation of a drawing I did years ago with pen and paper.

Much of my current work is colour intensive (Likely because I'm still relatively new to digital art, and over impressed with the huge selection of colour choices.) but I enjoyed getting back to the simplicity of black and white. With no colours to compete, the shapes take command and darkness and light cease to have importance.

fantastic use of positive and negative space. reminds me very much of Kandinsky's work. good stuff!

i'm always amazed by art like this. i can't do it to save my life. it looks so simple to do, but it isn't.

It's pretty basic, but interesting to look at. Why not try out two toned stuff first, asides from black and white? Just to test the waters :P

Actually it's colour that I'm testing the waters in, black and white has been my primary medium for the last twelve years or so.

I will admit that it isn't quite as satisfying in the digital format. For the original, I spent hours with a ruler and compass, marking out the paper, and days inking in the black.

I'll probably stick with colour for most of my digital work, as it's more suited to the medium, but I doubt I'll leave black and white behind entirely.
